Compared to the enthusiasm of 75% of operated patients, 16% are more lukewarm while 9% are definitely regretful and end up with inverted eyelids, unbalanced breasts, imperfect liposuctions.
"There are the so-called 'implant regret' patients" - declares Dr. Borriello - "during a secondary breast procedure it is possible to replace them or, when indicated, use body fat taken from the same patient instead."
"We are very satisfied with the new regulation that does not allow aesthetic procedures on minors" - adds Dr. Borriello - "many students ask their parents to have breast surgery, or other body parts to conform to a fictitious aesthetic ideal, perhaps as a gift for school graduation. And above all they have no idea of the risks they run when they trust the wrong hands who perhaps promise low-cost procedures."

The importance of the course is also underlined by news cases. As reported by Il Mattino in July 2012, an aesthetic surgeon was indicted for serious negligent injuries after perforating a young patient's pleura during a breast procedure, causing a hemopneumothorax and irreversible lung damage.
One in three aesthetic surgery procedures must be redone following medical error. "The fact is that it's one thing to make a mistake drawing lips, another to perforate a lung disabling a person" - comments the article, citing the congress organized by Dr. Borriello as an example of commitment to error prevention.
