The Last Frontier: Rejuvenation Without the Scalpel

Rejuvenate. But without risks and with minimally - or not at all - invasive procedures. It's the watchword, for both women and men, that has now entered the daily life of those with a new concept of "personal care".

The world's leading plastic surgeons and Italy's most renowned specialists in the field discussed it in Naples, gathered for the twelfth edition of the International Plastic Surgery Course organized and chaired by Alfredo Borriello, director of the Plastic Surgery unit at Pellegrini Hospital, in a busy two days hosted by Hotel San Francesco al Monte.

Dr. Borriello: "The Naples event is now unmissable for cutting-edge plastic surgeons - and I am pleased that qualified participation continues to grow and that Naples confirms its appeal both as a city and for the quality of its surgical school. In particular we maintain strong ties with Brazil, guest country last year, and France."

The Theme: Facial Rejuvenation

This year's theme was precisely facial rejuvenation, the latest techniques and various surgical and non-surgical possibilities available to doctors, but also analyses of the real possibilities of these soft techniques that have now far exceeded the number of traditional procedures in Italy as well.

Men Pursuing "Equal Opportunity"

A significant figure: men are increasingly pursuing their "equal opportunity", accounting for about 35% of patients choosing soft procedures.

Facial Oncoplastic Surgery

Facial oncoplastic surgery was also discussed, which is practiced in hospital facilities like Pellegrini: the face is in fact often the site of skin tumors. But, after demolitive surgical techniques, one can rely, even in public facilities, on reconstructive plastic surgery.

Techniques Presented

Mid-face lift

The latest generation of lifting: the mid-face lift, the lifting of the middle third of the face that raises the cheekbones.

Liquid lift

The liquid lift practiced exclusively with hyaluronic acid injections to raise facial volumes with a natural effect.

Lipofilling with Stem Cells

The now widely practiced lipofilling with the use of stem cells: a practice born from consolidated hospital experience in burn care.

Browlift

The browlift or eyebrow lift.

Fractional CO2 Laser

An important part was played by the latest generation lasers, such as the fractional CO2 laser, very suitable precisely for skin rejuvenation.

Endolift

The latest innovation: the endolift, a technique indicated for rejuvenation of the lower third of the face. It works through the use of laser fibers that perform skin retraction, it's a perfect indication in cases of non-excessive relaxation of the mandibular region, a critical facial area.

Fine Thread Contour (Soft-lifting)

Among the most requested treatments and where there are major innovations to report, certainly biorevitalizing threads, which allow a true non-surgical lifting called "Fine Thread Contour".

"It's an innovative treatment that, through the insertion without incisions of biostimulation threads, manages to obtain increased collagen proliferation, support and stimulation of loose tissues, with a lifting but light effect, we call it soft-lifting."

With this special technique you can intervene on the face, but also the neck and various body parts like inner thighs and inner arms.

Specific Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Regarding materials for the now very common fillers, among the innovations is the application of different types of hyaluronic acid, with different biochemical and molecular characteristics, specific for various facial areas, from cheekbones to lips.

Internationally Renowned Speakers

At the speaker table, names of international fame alternated:

  • France: Alain Bonnefon, Charles Volpei (president of the French society of plastic and aesthetic surgery), Frédéric Braccini
  • Brazil: Antonio Graziosi, Romulo Mene
  • Italy: Mario Pelleceravolo (president AICPE - Italian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery), Roberto Bracaglia (from Gemelli Hospital in Rome), Flavio Saccomanno, Maurizio Valeriani, Giovanni Botti

Pellegrini: Hospital of Excellence

Pellegrini is the hospital of excellence. Reference point for hand surgery (Prof. Umberto Passaretti), shoulder surgery (Prof. Raffaele Russo), plastic surgery (Dr. Alfredo Borriello), interventional cardiology (Dr. Aldo Celentano), ophthalmology, nephrology, vascular radiology and emergency room.
